Both teams were tied at 5 runs apiece after nine innings. Dominican came out the victor in the 11th inning. Scott Podsednik got things going when he drew a walk. Podsednik was safe on a stolen base. After an out was recorded, Scott Hatteberg stepped in and he drew a walk. Vernon Wells was up next and he lined a single knocking in a run. Dominican continued their aggressive style with another stolen base. One out later, Erubiel Durazo stepped up to the plate and he was walked intentionally to load the bases. Alfonso Soriano came next and he singled which was good for two more runs. Soriano took second on the throw. Dominican managed 14 in their victory. The win went to Lohse(3-7) who allowed 5 runs in the game. Francis Beltran(0-2) ended up with the loss in relief. He was knocked around pretty good, giving up 3 runs in 2 and 1/3 innings.
